COMMUNITY IMPACT

MAURICE CHANDLER SPORTS CENTRE
Maurice Chandler Sports and Leisure Centre is a thriving, volunteer-led hub at the heart of our community. Powered by the dedication and support of local volunteers, we provide a welcoming space where people of all ages and abilities can come together to get active, connect, and enjoy sport.
Our centre is home to a wide range of activities every day.  From netball, football, and walking football for the over 50s, to junior and senior hockey training and tournaments, there’s something for everyone. We are home to Newport Knights Junior and Senior Inline Roller Hockey Clubs and UKIHF Inline Roller Hockey tournaments.  Our facilities are also used daily by the community for badminton and pickleball, including the popular Pickleball People Club.
We support the next generation through children’s football coaching groups and partnerships with local schools, who use our facilities during the day. We also host fitness training for Market Drayton Swim Club and provide space for local rugby clubs, welcoming players from young children to older adults and our local gymnastics club who train here regularly.
We take pride in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone in the community and local groups can come together to take part in sport safely and in all weathers!
Inclusive, active, and community-driven — Maurice Chandler is a place where everyone belongs.
